We’re pleased to welcome Christy Farm to Kirk Design and Construction! Christy brings a wealth of experience to her position as bookkeeper and administrative assistant. We look forward to her assistance and good cheer helping us seize 2016! : )
Just in time for Fall, we’ve re-freshed our line-up of fixtures and finishes. Our new additions include a full suite of oil rubbed bronze fixtures, new field tiles, and additional accent tile bands. Visit our KirkBath website for all the details or stop by the showroom (map)!
Introducing Buttermilk: our newest KirkBath Signature Caesarstone Countertop Color Option! Our Signature Collection represents our best value options. These options have short lead times and are designed to coordinate well with one another. They’ll help you create a beautiful, durable bathroom, maximize your return on investment, and allow us to complete the job as soon as possible. Our goal for the Signature Collection is making the selection process quick and easy.
We also recently received samples of the latest Caeserstone quartz counter colors! They include many options with marbling, as well as a new “Concrete” collection that features a softly honed finish, rather than polished. This matte finish would look great in a kitchen where a casual, early feel is desired. If you’d like to check them out, please stop by our showroom Th-Fri 11-6 (or other times by appointment).
From Joni DeRaeve (Click here to see the review on Google+)
“I recently had my downstairs bathroom remodeled by Kirk Design and Construction. The KirkBath concept made the whole project very easy as I got to “pick and choose” from the four scenarios Emma has carefully curated. In this world of millions of choices, it is sometimes overwhelming to have to research each item. Emma found great, high quality choices, and that combined with their amazing construction practices makes for a beautiful, solid new bathroom. It’s always fun to bounce ideas off Joel for personalizing the design. This was my second project with them and as before, it was fun, painless and the results were gorgeous! Russell, their carpenter on the project was also great to work with–very careful and considerate and lives up to their high standards!”

Layout. This is a biggie. A good design will take different forms depending on your needs and the constraints of the existing home. You’ll want to address traffic flow through the kitchen, the level of open-ness to adjacent spaces, and the placement of the high-touch areas of sink, range, and fridge. The end result should be that the typical number of cooks in your house have room to work comfortably.
Lighting. Good lighting will make your kitchen so much more pleasant to use. Natural light is always lovely. If there is a window above your counter, we often will lower the sill height to be in-plane with the counter to bring in more light and create a wider counter. Sun tunnels are a relatively affordable way to bring in natural light. Lights placed under the wall cabinets will put light right where you need it, not shining in your eyes or casting a shadow on your cutting board.
Useful Storage. Your kitchen storage capability should match your needs. If you have lots of large platters or baking sheets, we often install a deep cabinet over the fridge with vertical dividers for easy accessibility. For base cabinets, drawers make it much easier to access contents than digging to the back of a deep shelf for that grater. For blind corner cabinets, a pull-out half-susan (see picture at left) is a very effective way to make use of otherwise hard-to-access space.
I hope that gives you some good ideas for your own kitchen!
We just added an American Standard Americast tub as a Signature option for KirkBath. Americast is a newer alternative to cast iron that is much lighter (less labor to install), but retains heat, absorbs sound, and resists chips/crazing. The apron front is 14″ tall, allowing for easy step-in. This tub features a sleek front and lifetime warranty with in-home service. Best of all, this tub is a good value, coming in at a mid-price level between the other tubs we offer.
We have recently added hundreds of new options to KirkBath! We organize the options into two categories: Signature and Expanded Options. Signature Options are the best values and shortest lead times, and Expanded Options offer a very wide variety of choices to tailor your bathroom to your taste. For new signature options we now offer recessed shower niches, hand shower faucets, and a wall-hung folding teak shower seat.
For Expanded Options, we now offer all Sherwin-Williams paint colors, 22 cabinet door styles, 7 cabinet species, and 23 different cabinet stain colors. Also, 35 additional Caesartsone counter colors are now available as an Expanded Option, as well as a couple hundred Marmoleum sheet flooring options.
We welcome you to stop in at our showroom to check out all these fun finishes and fixtures!
For many years, we’ve been sharing this cleaning guide with our clients upon completion of a kitchen or bathroom remodeling job, and it has proven to be quite popular. This guide includes the manufacturer-recommended cleaning products for the finish and fixture types we commonly install, such as Caeserstone and granite counters, Marmoleum flooring, tile, etc. Happy cleaning!
