There used to be a bank of upper cabinets across the front of this kitchen, blocking the beautiful view of the mountains. By carefully designing the cabinetry, we were able to maintain the same amount of storage space, but open up the sight lines through the space.

One of the challenges with this kitchen design was to incorporate an eating/reading bar, without eliminating space for one of the sofas in the already-compact living room. The floating oval bar on the side of the kitchen makes use of an oversized entry area, leaving the living room intact.

Here is the view from the eating bar-- a great place to keep an eye on the cook! This kitchen remodel features cabinets stained to coordinate with some of the clients' existing furniture.

Here is what this kitchen looked like before the remodel. As a design/build firm we know how to squeeze a lot of beauty and features into even a tight footprint.

We take our role of kitchen designer very seriously. We create an electrical plan for each kitchen or bathroom, such as the one in this example. We often incorporate under-cabinet lighting, which we are able to recess into the bottom of the upper cabinets, effectively eliminating the lights from view. Under-cabinet lights puts the light where you need it: Illuminating the cutting board, not behind your head casting a shadow on your knife. Also including well-placed ambient lighting and outlets for the toaster, coffee maker, etc. will help make your kitchen a pleasure to cook in.

One of the primary objectives with this kitchen remodel was to open the space up to the dining room on one side and the living room on the other. The new kitchen design also needed to stay within the general footprint of the existing kitchen to keep the cost down. For visual interest, the gentle-curve motif repeats throughout the kitchen.

We designed the kitchen to maximize storage while maintaining a sense of openness in the compact space. The use of custom open shelves help achieve this goal. The appliance garage is specially sized for the clients' mixing appliances, and also helps reduce countertop clutter.

This curved bar counter separates the kitchen from the living room. We made sure the sight lines were right so that the cook can watch the game from the kitchen.

We didn't want to miss an opportunity to squeeze in some more storage, so we used cabinets to support the bar counter. For the cabinet in the knee space, an energy efficient LED light comes on when the door is opened. Careful placement of the countertop seams ensured the cantilevered bar was an uninterrupted span. This eliminated the need for any large knee-knocking support corbels.

Here's what this kitchen looked like before the remodel. It was cut off from the dining and living rooms, and had very little counter space. We're happy to prove that even a small space can be transformed into a lovely kitchen.

Our clients enjoy entertaining their friends and colleagues with good food and good company. We worked closely with the clients to open up their dark, isolated kitchen and create a clean modern space to fit their needs. The result was a contemporary space our clients love to live in.
This project was awarded a NARI Northwest Contractor of the Year award,
two ORA awards,
and was featured in
Oregon Home magazine. The Oregonian Home and Garden section published a cover story detailing the project and the wonderful relationship we developed with our clients.

A beautiful custom kitchen remodel needs to work as well as it looks. Low maintenance surfaces, plenty of natural and artificial lighting, storage solutions that encourage organization, and good craftsmanship ensure our kitchens are enjoyed for many years.

Our clients started with a cramped, dark galley kitchen. We needed to stay within the existing kitchen footprint so we redesigned the kitchen with a bright, open floorplan and introduced a complete lighting plan incorporating accent, task, and ambient lighting elements. The resulting space is warm, inviting, and makes cooking as fun as it should be.

The family cook wanted an enjoyable space to create his delicious creations.
When the clients invited use over for dinner several months after project completion, he informed us that he “loves to cook in his new kitchen,” and found cooking much easier than in the old kitchen.

The family was ready for a thoughtful, well-crafted, modern kitchen. They knew their next-door neighbors had enjoyed working with us on two prior projects so they approached us to discuss their new kitchen. They liked our approach of providing personalized 3-D designs and the continued involvement of the project designer during the project construction.
Our design and construction process gave them a space they loved and brought the project in under-budget.

Yes, this kitchen’s for the dog (partly!) We recently completed this compact, but full-featured kitchen. It features solid Maple slab-front cabinets, a new connection to the living/dining room and a modern aesthetic… but one of the most unique features may be the custom dog dining area for the family’s beloved pet.
This kitchen is in a small house, and the clients were tired of having the dog bowls out where they could be kicked, so the dog now has his own private eating alcove.
