Our philosophy <about us>

We believe in the power architecture has in our lives.  Starting your morning routine in a beautiful bathroom sets a peaceful tone for your day.  A thoughtfully designed kitchen makes cooking fun.  Well designed built-ins free your home of clutter.

We also believe in the power of design/build remodeling.  We start by listening to your desires for your new space, including your budget.  We create a set of plans to meet your needs, and when you’re delighted with the results we provide you with a fixed-price proposal to build the project.  As remodelers we know how to meet your budget and create “buildable” designs.  As designers we know how to make your new space an award-winner.  Once you have a set of plans, we’re able to roll seamlessly into construction.

As Certified Green Professionals (a designation administered by the National Association of Home Builders,) we weave sustainable practices into the fabric of our company.  As standard practice we…

  • Only install plywood-box cabinets (not high-VOC particle board)
  • Use low- or no-VOC paints and finishes
  • Tightly seal any opened portions of the building envelope for air leaks, and install insulation that meets or exceeds current code requirements
  • Create enduring designs using high-quality materials with long life cycles (reducing replacement waste)
  • Recycle many job site materials, such as cardboard

Many more “green” building options are available and appropriate for certain projects and clients.  (Think high-performance insulation and windows, energy recovery ventilators, tankless hot water heaters, recycled-content finishes, etc.)  In terms of the “3 R’s,” we think that remodeling a home could even be seen as the ultimate “Reuse”!

Emma Kirk:  Owner/ Designer, CGP, CGR

Emma will listen to your desires and create a full-color design for your project.  Each design includes 3D perspective views to help you envision the completed space.  She will also help you select finish materials and fixtures you’ll love.  One of the beauties of the design/build process is that Emma’s involvement continues during construction, as she monitors the jobsite production to ensure all details of the design are being executed as planned.

Joel Kirk:  Owner/ Production Manager, CGP, CGR

The other beauty of the design/build process is that Joel lends his budgeting and construction expertise to the design process.  He will help you establish a budget up-front, and will monitor the design to make sure it meets that budget.  Joel will then ensure the successful, on-time construction of your new space.

Emma and Joel have both earned the designations of Certified Green Professional (CGP), and Certified Graduate Remodeler (CGR) through the National Association of Home Builders.
