Black soapstone counters, walnut travertine backsplash, and lightly stained maple cabinets.  These are the elements that are combined in this kitchen to create a warm, earthy environment for cooking and entertaining.  The owners of this home are wonderful cooks and entertainers, and the new kitchen had to hold up it’s end of the deal by providing efficiency features for the serious cook, as well as a strong connection to the adjacent dining and living rooms.  Some of the ways we met these goals were by including a pull-out chopping block adjacent to the range, pull-out garbage and recycling bins positioned between the sink and the island to be reached easily from the two main working stations, bar seating along the back of of the island for onlookers, and a range hood with curved glass shroud to minimally block interactions between rooms.
